What this tool does

This finder points you to the most relevant British Sign Language guidance for your specific situation, whether you are learning BSL yourself, supporting a deaf person or child, or helping others to sign.

It helps you focus on what is useful for your context rather than wading through everything at once.

When to use it

Use it when you are learning BSL for a particular setting such as a hospital, school or family home, when you want to communicate respectfully with someone who signs, or when you are not sure where to start.

How it works

You describe your situation and your main communication challenge, and say whether you are learning, supporting someone or both. It then suggests the signs, etiquette and resources most relevant to you. Nothing you enter is saved, and you do not need to give your name or email to use it. For the best progress, learn from deaf led classes and resources wherever you can, as BSL is a living language best learned in person.
